Dasht-e Zerrin is a historical fantasy roleplay server set on the continent by the same name: a land inspired by the myths, legends, and cultures of the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and North Africa. Though it is home to several nations and tribes taking influence from real-life peoples, Dasht is at its core a magical place where genies, divs and mages roam the sands and savannas and the streets and lights of urban, industrialised cities. In this world exist wonders as glorious as the Taj Mahal and Angkor Wat—often juxtaposed against factories, railroads, and other sights of a more modern age.
Technological advancement in Dasht-e Zerrin varies from place to place, but visitors can expect an average range of the mid-19th century to the 1930s. Though swords, sorcery, and bows have been joined by the machine precision of rifles and revolvers, all of the above have their places in war, survival, and the often short life of the daring strider. While there is adventure to be had in the sprawling Jivanian capital of Rotsamkolos, so too do ferocious creatures and brutal conflicts exist to be fought on the continent's harshest, most remote frontiers. Convenience is not a constant, and neither are the challenges posed by each world one chooses to live in.
The brave or foolish, souls of Dasht-e Zerrin that decide to take on the freelance lifestyle of the road executing jobs and contracts are called striders. This title comes from an ancient tradition when teeming hordes of Starfallen freely roamed Dasht-e Zerrin, beckoned by frequent demonic storms. The important jobs were often the riskiest, but necessary for the tribe to continue on. In the modern era, the term has been divorced from specific nationalities or regions to being an occupation that many aspire to, but only few thrive in.
